The Stone family along with many friends and acquaintances say with bitter sweet sadness good-bye to the “Tony Stone Barbeque Cookoff”. The cookoff has been held for 27 years in conjunction with the Cookeville Fall Fun Festival.
Since the passing of Tony and his wife, Dean, their daughters, Julie Lee and Melinda Keifer, have taken on the responsibilities of organizing the event. Along with their families, they have continued this tradition for the past seven years. As always this year was no exception. Many awards and gifts were presented as keepsakes for the teams involved. This year’s awards were:
Overall 1st Place – Grand Champion; 2nd Place Grand Reserve
Chicken Division: 1st Place – Smoke on This 2nd Place – Under the Radar
3rd Place -Swiggin Pig
Pork Ribs: 1st place -Hot Coles’s BBQ 2nd Place – Chairman of the Boar

Brisket Division: 1st Place – High on the Hawg 2nd Place – The Algood Bar-B-Q Pit Crew

Sausage Division: 1st Place – The Big Orange Smokers 2nd Place – Snoring Hogs BBQ
3rd Place – Backyard Kuisine
Dessert Division: 1st Place: Dirty Ol’Butt Slappers 2nd Place – Rooters-N-Tooters

Much love, hard work and long-lasting friendships have been developed throughout the years.
