BAXTER, T.N., — Akira Levy, senior at Upperman High School, has officially requested the University of Kentucky to release her letter of intent.

Akira Levy is the point guard for Upperman High’s Lady Bees and has been taking the court by storm.  Right now, Levy is rated No. 66 prospect in the country and is No. 18 ranked point guard.

Last November, Levy had a signing with Western Kentucky University to play with Coach Michelle Clark-Heard after she graduated. Unfortunately, Tuesday it was announced that Clark-Heard was named Cincinnati’s Women’s Coach. With these turn of events, Levy has decided to request her release of her Letter of Intent.

Uppperman High Lady Bee’s Coach, Dana McWilliams said to the Tennessean, “I think right now she wants to go to a successful program and to a place where she has a good connection with the coach.”

Levy has yet to decide on where she will play but it is said that she is keeping her options open. “I wanted my release because coach Heard would no longer be at WKU, and she was a big part of why I committed there,” wrote Levy to The Tennessean.

This is still an ongoing story and the Upper Cumberland Reporter will continue updating as the story unfolds.
