Mountain Bike Trail Volunteer Work Day Set For Saturday by Cookeville Leisure Services

Mountain bike trail volunteer work day set for Saturday

COOKEVILLE – A volunteer work day to clear storm debris from Cane Creek Park’s mountain bike trail will be held Aug. 25 from 7-10 a.m.

The approximate 2.5-mile natural surface trail, which winds through a wooded area north of Cane Creek Lake, has been closed due to fallen trees and hanging limbs following a storm on July 20.

“Anyone willing to assist is welcome to meet at the mountain bike trail entrance,” Rick Woods, Cookeville Leisure Services director, said.

To get there, participants may park at the Cane Creek Recreation Center, 180 C C Camp Road, and follow the paved pedestrian path a short distance to the mountain bike trail.

Volunteers are asked to bring hand tools, such as rakes and shovels, if possible.

The trail is expected to reopen immediately following the cleanup.

The mountain bike trail, which opened in 2016, is used by cyclists, as well as walkers and runners. When weather and trail conditions are favorable, it is open daily from 7 a.m. to dusk at 201 C C Camp Road.
