COOKEVILLE, T.N. — Police are investigating a fatal accident on Crescent Drive in Cookeville. The accident happened on October 3, 2018 at 10:23 AM.
Police say a 1999 Buick LeSabre driven by 73-year-old Donna Ashby, of Cookeville, left the roadway while traveling southbound on Linnaeus Avenue before striking a fence. The vehicle continued southbound crossing Crescent Drive before striking a large fallen tree.
Ashby was found deceased at the scene. She was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Nashville for an autopsy. It is unclear whether Ashby suffered a medical event prior to the crash.
At the time of the accident, Ashby’s dog was present in the car but was uninjured.
