PUTNAM COUNTY, TN— An accident on East I-40 leaves one person dead.
According to reports, on December 6th, a semi was traveling eastbound on I-40 when it began to decrease its speed because of traffic flow. A 2018 Hyundai Elantra was traveling behind the semi when it failed to decrease its speed and struck the rear of the trailer.
Julia Starnes, 25, of Baxter, was the driver of the Hyundai. According to THP reports, Starnes was pronounced dead on scene due to her injuries.
Starnes’ minor children were also in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Both were uninjured.
At the time of the accident, all parties were wearing their seatbelts. The accident occurred on Thursday, December 6, 2018.
