Enjoy a Merry and Bright Christmas Tour of Lights with new map

COOKEVILLE – Night driving during the Christmas season can be a wondrous adventure.  Homes glow with colorful lights and decorations, making it hard not to slow down and admire the festive displays.

Putnam County has its share of must-see holiday homes – but where are they?

Fortunately, there’s a map for that.

Cookeville’s second annual self-guided Merry and Bright Christmas Tour of Lights – which includes addresses of participants in the Merry and Bright Holiday Home Challenge presented by Cookeville Leisure Services and Upper Cumberland Association of Realtors – is available at www.cookeville-tn.gov/ls.

“We are excited to provide this map to make it easier for people to see where all these homes are located in proximity to each other and plan their tour accordingly,” Amy Davis of Leisure Services said. “It’s also a good idea to have a GPS on hand.”

The map, designed by GIS Manager Terry Clark of the Cookeville Planning Department, features 15 homes within an approximate 10-mile radius of the Cookeville Courthouse Square. Paper copies are available at Cookeville City Hall, 45 E. Broad St.

Mildred Garrett of Leisure Services said, “Participants in the Merry and Bright Holiday Home Challenge have made possible a joyful activity through their creativity. We encourage families to take a drive through their hometown and admire these festive homes, whether it’s for their color, whimsical wonder or traditional appeal.”
