Pickett County News and Events 3-15-19

Welcome to the Weekend!

It’s been a busy week around here. FINALLY! A gorgeous forecast for this weekend!

Good Neighbors Theatre would like to thank everyone involved in any way with the performances of “Oliver Twist” last weekend! It was a huge success. They have given us an update list of coming events listed below.

Just a few of the things going on here: We are working to finalize the new website and map projects. WCTE came up today to discuss ways we can be of mutual benefit to one another and Star Point is gearing up for another BFL Weekend (at least the weather is forecast to be nice this time). Welcome anglers!

Stonecom would like to extend a warm welcome to their Grand Opening at their new state of the art facility. The event will take place on Thursday, March 21 from 5-7:30PM with a ribbon cutting at 5:30PM. Details are here.

Be sure to check out the events at Cordell Hull Birthplace State Park (link in sidebar) and our other area parks (Sgt. YorkPickett State andStanding Stone). They continue to have a lot going on. Don’t miss the Annual Sgt. Alvin C. York Memorial Shoot next weekend (link in sidebar).

Make plans not to attend the Open House at The Farm at East Port Marina on March 31st. If you plan to attend, they would appreciate yourreserving your tickets in advance – but they are not required. It just makes it easier to know how many to plan for. It is going to be awesome! March 30-31 is also the Spring Dale Hollow Bass Classic. Anglers, registration forms can be picked up at Town Hall and then you won’t have to deal with that on Saturday morning.

As usual, there will be LIVE music at the Dixie Cafe on Friday & Saturday nights and on Saturday night at the Country Kitchen. Be sure to check out the great food and specials at our other local restaurants! They are ready to serve you! You can find a list of area eateries here- check them out soon!

If you know of anyone looking for a job, some of the marinas are hiring seasonal labor and Stonecom is looking for an on air personality!

Reminder: The ID & JECD Board Meetings will be on March 19th at 11AM here at the Welcome Center. The public is invited to attend.
