Cookeville Community Band To Present Memorial Day Concert At Dogwood Park

COOKEVILLE – It’s summer concert season at Dogwood Park.

The first in a series of Cookeville Community Band concerts presented by Cookeville Leisure Services will take place Memorial Day, May 27, at 7:30 p.m. at the Dogwood Performance Pavilion. Admission is free.

“The band concerts in the park are a great opportunity to experience live music in a beautiful setting,” Chad McDonald, Leisure Services cultural arts superintendent, said. “The Dogwood Pavilion was designed especially for live music, and the Community Band series is a perfect fit for the venue.”

The Cookeville Community Band consists of musicians from throughout the Upper Cumberland area – people who love taking part in the American concert band tradition. Members come from every walk of life and age, from high school students to senior citizens.

“The Cookeville Community Band was formed in response to the construction of the performance pavilion in 2002,” McDonald said. “Each benefits the other, and the series has been very popular.”

Concerts will continue on Monday evenings during the summer on June 10 and 24 and July 8 and 22 at 7:30 p.m.

Attendees may bring lawn chairs and blankets or take advantage of the tiered permanent seating. Concessions are available.

Dogwood Park is located at 30 E. Broad St. For more information about concerts or other Cookeville Leisure Services events, call 528-1313 or 520-4386.
