In case you missed this last week, here are a couple of FACTS about the benefits brought to the community through our active Chamber:

1. We are the only agency within the County whose purpose is to help generate sales tax to the County and City budgets. We work to promote our local businesses to the best of our ability on a limited budget.

2. Our office facilitates the Three Star Program for Pickett County. What does this mean to the County and City governments? The Three Star Program provided $15,000 grant (money we do NOT have to pay back) in the current cycle for projects to benefit the area. In addition the Three Star designation also provided a 4% increase to the amount of grants and low interest loans the County and City have obtained for various projects to benefit the citizens of Pickett County and Byrdstown. In the past 4 years, the City has received $100,000 in additional Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) funding due to the designation. The County was able to obtain an additional $7,400 on a $170,000 grant for an Emergency Services Grant for the same reason.

In the upcoming cycle of the Three Star Program, Pickett County will be able to compete for a $50,000 grant that will be used over a  2-year period. With the assistance of the State, we are currently in the process of defining the areas that we need to focus this funding on.

Let’s make OUR community
prosper and grow.

It all starts with US!
