Man Threatens Caretaker With Shotgun

BAXTER, TN — An elderly man is facing Assault and Reckless Endangerment charges after he aimed a shotgun at his caregiver.

According to reports, the caretaker of Bob Goodwin, 76, entered Goodwin’s home on Friday for a normal day of work. As the caregiver entered the residence, which she claimed Goodwin routinely left open for her, she used the restroom and while inside heard Goodwin yelling from the other room.

Allegedly, when the caretaker exited the restroom, Goodwin met her in the hallway with a shotgun pointed at her. Goodwin then fired a shot that fortunately missed the caretaker. The victim claimed to have left the residence to call law enforcement.

As officers arrived, Goodwin claimed that caretaker had been hitting him and he was tired of it. The claims of abuse have yet to be investigated.

Goodwin was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault and Reckless Endangerment and now faces a $30,000 bond.
