Putnam County School System Families,
The events of this past week have forever changed the lives of many of our students and families. The healing process to recover from these events will take weeks, months, and years for some. In some ways, we have all felt the impact of the storms that brought so much devastation to our community. For those that have suffered a significant loss, we want you to know that your school community is ready to support you and your family however possible.
For many, part of the healing process includes returning to a normal routine. To that end, all Putnam County Schools will re-open on Monday, March 9, 2020.
As we return to school this week, we ask that everyone be thoughtful and attentive to the needs of those around them. For both students and staff members, we will have additional counseling support available to those who need to speak to someone. To access this service, please let any teacher or staff member know and they will be able to assist in making contact with your school’s counseling center.
As crews continue to complete work in the affected area, a significant portion of Highway 70 will remain closed through the first part of this week. The only bus route that will be significantly affected by this closure is Bus 85. Our school transportation team has created new drop off and pick up points for students on that route. They are communicating the new stops to the families on the Bus 85 route throughout the day today. The alternate stops will also be posted on the school system FB page. If you ride Bus 85, or if you have been displaced and normally ride a bus, and have not been contacted, please reach out to the transportation department at (931) 526-9342. Dispatchers will be answering the phones by 5:30 tomorrow morning.
Bus 85 Alternate Stops:
1823-1827 West Broad, 2093 West Broad will be at County Farm and Pippin Road – 6:25 a.m.
All Plunk Whitson Road and McBroom Chapel Road stops will be at the intersection of Plunk Whitson and Shady Oak – 6:49 a.m.
Echo Valley Dr, Long Meadow Dr, Lewis Ave, Eaton Rd, Locust Grove Rd, South Dr, Willowbrook Dr., Grand Ridge, Herald, Willow Court will all pick up at Dipsy Doodle – 6:58 a.m.
