Byrdstown-Pickett County Updates 5/15/20

Congratulations Class of 2020!
Forward to a Friend

You haven’t had an easy year, but you have made it! Everyone have a safe and happy summer! Wishing you all the best in life today and always!

The Backyard Grill is now open for business! They are located just south of the Obey River Bridge just before you cross the County line. Pier 42 Restaurant at Sunset Marina is also opening for the 2020 season beginning tonight! Be sure to schedule a stop at all of our many restaurants in the coming days. Keep in mind everyone is required to follow the guidelines. Here is a link for you to go read the most current information. The Whistle Stop Tavern will also re-open tonight – May 15th. Tennessee State Parks are open, yet they too have to follow the guidelines that have been set forth. Check their calendar for information on upcoming events. As always, support local businesses. Even though limited in-house dining is now allowed, most of the restaurants are offering carry-out services and many stores are allowing a limited capacity for walk-in customers, but you may exercise the option to pick-up orders for those that don’t want to come in. Links for our businesses can be found here. Be sure to support our small businesses. Think local when you think about shopping for any reason.

The Farmhouse Restaurant is offering a new Meat & 1, 2, or 3 or a little of everything plate in addition to their regular menu items all on a carry-out basis. Rustic Roots Boutique has expanded (Rustic Roots Boutique Expansion) for the Memorial Day season. They have a huge line of unique and gorgeous Memorial Day flowers, saddles, wreathes and wind chimes! These items are located in the old bank building across the street from the Dixie Cafe. Stop by (pop-up hours) or contact Rustic Roots Boutique to arrange a time to shop. Obey River Grill is now open for business! We are hearing some really nice reviews about the new restaurant and the marina since it has been restored after the flood. Sells Family Store has new hours: M, T, T, F from 10-6 and Saturdays from 10-2 – unless the Grandchildren are visiting and then they will close. 🙂

Stonecom is doing something special for the 2020 Graduates! Please visit the press release here for more information – be sure to click through for the second page – and get the information requested to them as soon as possible.

To all of our accommodations memberships: please update us on what you still have available for Memorial Day Weekend with a reply to this message.

We were finally able to have our monthly Chamber Board of Directors meeting yesterday at the Dixie Cafe. Among other things, we decided that if things kept improving we would likely start the Business of the Week program back up sometime in June. BUT WE NEED YOUR INPUT!!! If you are a Chamber Member and have not done so yet, please fill out our survey. You can access the survey here.

Anglers, the Spring Dale Hollow Bass Classic is on May 30-31, 2020! If you don’t have your entry in or want to wait until the morning of the 30th, get your calendars marked and ready.

The 2020 Census needs you to count! If you haven’t taken the time to fill out your survey, please do so now. It is very important to our area.

If ANYONE needs any help, questions answered, etc., please reach out to our office (931) 864-7195, the County Executive’s Office (931) 864-3798 or Mayor Gibson’s Office (931) 864-6215.
