Byrdstown -Pickett County Update 8/7/20

Welcome to the Weekend!

BEFORE WE GET INTO THE FUN STUFF, let me share a little bit of important information for Tennessee Businesses AND THIS IS GOOD NEWS. The Tennessee Department of Revenue sent all the tax paying businesses a letter in the past few weeks – 33,000 of them to be more exact. It requires a reply to confirm your information. Only 15,000 businesses have responded so far – less than half. IF YOU ARE ONE OF THE BUSINESSES THAT HASN’T RESPONDED OR YOU DIDN’T GET A LETTER AND YOU THINK YOU SHOULD, PLEASE CONTACT THEM IMMEDIATELY. The Tennessee Business Relief Program will send you a check to help mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 shutdown. The amount is based on how much taxes you paid in previously (I think last year during that time). You can email: revenue.support@tn.gov or call 1-615-253-0060.

This weekend is the second weekend of the Sales Tax Holiday. This one focuses on restaurant sales. It begins at 12:01AM on August 7 and ends on Sunday, August 9 at 11:59PM. During this time, the retail sale of food and drink by restaurants and limited service restaurants as defined in Tennessee Code Annotated §57-4-102, is exempt from sales tax. You can get the latest details here.

The 127 Corridor Sale is underway. Face masks are encouraged along with social distancing and plenty of hand washing/sanitizing. It’s and outdoor events so there is plenty of room for social distancing. It is very important to businesses along the route.

One last night for this round of Brain Blast Trivia at Obey River Grill at East Port Marina tonight  Friday night. Forbus General Store in Pall Mall is participating in the 127 Sale and has a special menu for this weekend. There will be live music at the Dixie Cafe on Friday and Saturday night. Plus there are many other wonderful places to grab a bite to eat in the area and take advantage of the SALES TAX HOLIDAY. You can find our members here: www.dalehollow.com/dine.

Cordell Hull Birthplace State Park has several events/workshops/activities in the coming days. Check their calendar here. Sgt. York State Historic Park also has several events coming up. Check those out here.

Remember! Good Neighbors Theatre has opted to do a “Social Distancing Gala” this year. They can really use your help. The Fall Dale Hollow Bass Classic will be held the weekend of November 14 & 15, 2020. Drop us a reply if you want a copy to print yourself or we will be mailing to past participants soon.
