Byrdstown-Pickett County Update 9/25/20

Happy Fall Y’all!

Welcome to the Weekend! 2020 has been a year to remember for certain, but I find it hard to comprehend that we are in the final days of SEPTEMBER! We have several events on the horizon. I want to remind everyone to follow the guidelines to try and keep everyone safe and healthy. Keep your distance. Wear your mask (and wash it often). Wash your hands or sanitize them REALLY OFTEN. We want everyone to have a safe and fun fall.

For those looking for the Cordell Hull Day that was schedule for tomorrow, September 26th, sorry, it has been cancelled and they are planning a bigger and better event for 2021. But never fear, they are planning a “Tales on the Trails” event for Oct. 3, 17 and 24. You must pre-register! Space is limited!

Next Thursday-Saturday is the Rollecoaster Yard Sale. We have several vendors that plan to set up here at the Welcome Center and I am sure there will be several others here and in Albany. Some of the Counties have decided they really don’t want to promote the event this year, but they are certain there will still be sales through their counties. So watch for smaller possibly individual sales and be mindful of traffic! Next MONDAY, September 28th isĀ  the deadline for early entries for the Town of Byrdstown 5K/3K Run/Walk! Please get those entries in if you want to be assured of a t-shirt!!! If you want the t-shirt, but don’t want to do the event – go ahead and send in your entry except please make note that you will not be at the event itself. We can have your t-shirt at Town Hall for pick-up. The event is on Oct. 10th. We will start taking entries for the Fall Dale Hollow Bass Classic on Oct. 1 at 8:15AM. The tournament itself will be held on Nov. 14 & 15, 2020. If you are one of those that like to have an early flight number, we will probably be seeing you on Thursday. Be aware that the RCYS starts that morning as well. Cars & Coffee will be held at the Town Plaza on Oct. 3 from 8AM until 12PM. The Town of Byrdstown is also having Dale Holloween on October 31st at Town Plaza. More information to come on this event.

A few little housekeeping items before we get into the what’s going on this weekend. We are still needing survey’s from our Chamber Member businesses interested in being the Business of the Month. If you have already sent your form in, if we did NOT respond, please check with us. It has been brought to my attention that our email filter has been not allowing some to get through. More information is below. Second, it’s time of year we prepare for the next tourism season. Ad sales for the Dale Hollow Explorer are open. If you want to be a part of the Pickett County section, contact us during normal business hours and we will get the information over to you. Finally, we will be holding our 3rd Quarter ID and JECD Board Meetings on Tuesday, September 29th at 11AM here at the Welcome Center.
