Algood Middle School Hires Bethanie Williams As Head Girls’ Basketball Coach

Algood Middle School is pleased to announce the appointment of Bethanie Williams as the new head girls basketball coach.

Currently, Bethanie is a Master’s student at Tennessee Tech University studying cybersecurity. Last May, Bethanie graduated from Berea College and majored in Computer Science, Mathematics, and Spanish. At Berea, Bethanie was on the women’s basketball team where in her final year they won the USA South Conference Championship and made Berea’s first NCAA III National Tournament Appearance.  During Bethanie’s collegiate career, she was honored as an All-American, All-Academic team, and joined the 1,200 point and 500 rebound club. Although Bethanie has more playing experience than coaching experience, she has helped coach in recreation leagues, travel ball, and most recently, she served as an assistant coach for the Cookeville High School girls’ basketball program under Jamie Gillies.  In her free time, Bethanie provides private basketball training and sessions for athletes in Cookeville. Bethanie is very passionate about sharing her love of the game to the next generation and finds coaching as a way to give back. Bethanie looks forward to having a positive influence on the girls basketball program at Algood Middle School!

Joining Bethanie’s staff as an assistant coach is Kendall Maxwell. Kendall attended Westview High School in Martin, TN where she played all four years.  During Kendall’s high school years as a junior, she was a Miss Basketball Finalist in 2002 and then named Miss Basketball Class AA her senior year in 2003.  In that year, Kendall led her team to State Champion Runner-Up in 2003. Kendall attended Tennessee Tech from Fall of 2003-Spring 2007 as a 4 year scholarship player.  She was awarded Freshman Team All conference, 2nd Team All Conference two years in a row and 1st Team All- Conference her senior year.  Kendall currently holds the 3rd place record for career 3-pointers at TTU. She looks forward to working with the youth in the community to reach their basketball potential and goals. Some of Kendall’s accolades include: Westview High School Women’s Basketball, Miss Basketball State of TN Class AA, 2003, State Champion Runner-Up, 2003, 2005 Westview High School Retired the Jersey of Kendall Cavin (Maxwell), TTU Women’s Basketball: 2003-2007, 1st Team All-OVC, 2007, OVC Co-Champions, 2006,  2nd Team All-OVC, 2005 & 2006, Freshman Team All-OVC, 2004.
