Suspect Pleads Guilty To Arson

Cookeville, TN – At approximately 9:04 AM on June 7, 2021, the Cookeville Police
Department, Cookeville Fire Department, and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation responded to 220 East 16th Street in reference to a structure fire with two occupants inside. As a result of the investigation, it was determined that the fire was suspicious in nature and 26-year-old Dusty S. Troglin of Cookeville was developed as a person of interest.

On June 8, 2021, Mr. Troglin was located and interviewed by Cookeville Police Detective Justin Long. Mr. Troglin was charged with Aggravated Arson after he confessed to setting the fire. Mr. Troglin was booked into the Putnam County Jail at that time with a $50,000 bond.

On August 2, 2021, Mr. Troglin pled guilty to Arson, a Class C Felony. He was
sentenced in Putnam County Criminal Court to six years at the Tennessee Department of Corrections.

Luckily, both occupants who were inside the home at the time of the fire were unharmed.
