CRMC Welcomes Dr. Carol Berg

[Cookeville, TN] — Medicine is a calling and a gift, one that Dr. Carol Berg is passionate about.

Berg is now seeing patients with Dr. Carolyn Ross at the Walnut Family Medicine clinic on Walnut Commons Lane.

“My favorite thing about medicine is the ability to see any age and whatever problem they present with I can give them an answer and guidance,” she said. “If they need specialized care, I know where to send them.”

When she began her journey into the medical field, Berg wanted to do emergency medicine, but life events changed that. She is board certified in urgent care, which she says is a good mix between primary care and emergency medicine.

A graduate of the University of South Florida, she completed her internship in Greenville, South Carolina, where she met her husband of 38 years. She did an apprenticeship in a large teaching hospital in St. Louis, and then traveled around with him and their four kids, going from Mississippi, Missouri, then back to South Carolina and Florida.

Prior to joining CRMC’s staff, Berg practiced at an urgent care clinic in Cookeville and then at the Cumberland County Health Department.

“My daughter is a family practice/OB-GYN in Livingston, and she has two children, so we came here to be close to them,” she said.

Her goal at Walnut Family Medicine is to make it a clinic that is easy for patients who are walk-ins and those who have primary care needs, essentially being the “gatekeepers” for those patients.

“I’m comfortable with removing lesions and other things like that,” she said. “Medicine is hands- on and an art on how to relate to people, how to help them and make a difference in their lives.

Being able to earn the patient’s trust and treat them as if they were your closest relative is really a big deal. That’s what I love.”

CRMC CEO Paul Korth is excited to welcome Berg to the staff.

“Her knowledge and experience will be well-received with patients and our providers,” he said.

“We’re happy to have her join the team.”

She is in the clinic on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Call 931-783-4457 to make an appointment or visit the clinic at 120 Walnut Commons Lane, suite B, in Cookeville.
