Happenings around our area – Oct 15 2021 edition

Happy Friday!

The seasons are changing along with the leaves. Cooler temperatures are on tap for this weekend. The Town of Byrdstown 5K/3K Run/Walk raised over $20,000.00 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital last Saturday! Thank you Pickett County (and the surrounding area)!!! We would also like to extend a warm welcome to the Renegade Fishing Tournament that will be in the area next week. The actual tournament will be Oct. 21, 22 and 23, but they will be here pre-fishing before those days.

Tomorrow, Oct. 16, will be a wonderful day to go to the Cordell Hull Birthplace State Park for the 2PM free concert by the Tennessee Tech Percussion and Ensemble. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy the afternoon. They also have additional activities going on this weekend and beyond.

October 16th is also a big day for our Chamber Member Sulphur Creek Resort. They are having their Halloween Bash. Get all the details here. The Steel Coop will have live music on Friday and Saturday nights. WCTE is having their “Blues and Brews” and “Haunted Half” events this weekend.

Youth Villages in recognition of National Adoption Awareness will be having a Lunch at Learn on Oct. 21. Detailshere.

It’s also time to reserve ad space in the 2022 Dale Hollow Explorer! If anyone would like to advertise this year at a discounted rate, please give us a call. Deadlines will be coming soon.

If ANYONE needs any help, questions answered, etc., please reach out to our office (931) 864-7195, the County Executive’s Office (931) 864-3798 or Mayor Gibson’s Office (931) 864-6215.
