The DeKalb County Tigerettes rallied against the Livingston Academy Lady Wildcats to win 11-0 on Wednesday night in softball action.
The Tigerettes struck first, as they brought three runs across in the first inning. DeKalb left Livingston scoreless, and then they rallied up three more runs in the fourth and five more in the fifth inning.
This aggressive effort brought the game to its final score of 11-0.
“I think that we came in and took care of business,” said DCHS head coach Danny Fish. “We had some good things happen for us, and had some big hits. Madison Martin came alive with two doubles and Emma Martin had a big hit at the end. I thought Bri Murphy pitched very well in the circle. Any time you come to Livingston, which is a tough place to play, and you go in and get a three-hit shutout, you have done your job on the mound.”
Lady Wildcat Sabrina Garrett surrendered nine runs on four hits over 4.1 innings, striking out three, before Leah-Kate Clark came in for relief in the fifth inning. Emma Dulworth, Jazlyn Flowers and Garrett all recorded one hit each for the Lady Wildcats.
Murphy threw a complete-game shutout against Livingston, as she pitched for five innings, striking out three and walking one. Madison Martin led the Tigerettes in hits with two, while Emma Martin and Bryna Pelham both recorded two RBIs each.
The Lady Wildcats will host district opponent the Cumberland County Lady Jets at 5 p.m. on Thursday night, while DeKalb will host Macon County.
“We’ve just got to move on and change the page to another team tomorrow and another team on Friday,” said Fish. “That team tomorrow is big. If Macon sweeps us, they will finish second in the district, but if we split with them, then we will finish second…White County clinched the regular season last night, but we will have to be very good. Macon is very good one through nine, the pitching is pretty good and the defense is pretty solid. We will have to come with our best effort if we want to get a win.”
