CHS’ Julian Signs To Play Golf For Tennessee Tech

by Rusty Ellis

Cookeville senior Lexus Julian took the next step in her athletic and academic journey on Wednesday, as she signed her national letter of intent to join the Tennessee Tech golf team after graduation.

For Julian, it’s the fulfillment of a goal she’s had for quite some time.

“I feel great knowing what I’m doing,” Julian said. “It’s a dream come true, I’ve wanted to play at Tech since middle school, so I’m just happy to have gotten that offer, committed and signed today…it’s my hometown. I can represent Cookeville for four more years.”

It comes on the heels of a senior season that saw Julian helped lead the Cookeville girls team to the Class AA State Championship in Sevierville.

Head coach Larry Pitts thinks it’s a perfect fit for both Julian and Tennessee Tech, as he believes she can join and immediately challenge for some playing time.

“She’s a hard worker and she tries to help motivate others,” Pitts said. “She’s going to put people on notice that she’s there to play…I think she can step right in and help the team. She’ll be a good asset for them…she had some offers from other schools, but she wanted to stay closer to home. It’s a good fit for her.”

As far as what she’s looking forward to the most, Julian says she’s looking forward to the increased competition and getting to work immediately with the team.

“I’m hoping I get to play freshman year and make a difference,” Julian said. “Hopefully I can help them win some tournaments.”
