Cookeville’s Bragga Signs To Play Baseball At Tennessee Tech

by Rusty Ellis

Cookeville senior Luke Bragga signed his national letter of intent on Wednesday to continue his academic and athletic career at Tennessee Tech, where he will play baseball for his father, Matt Bragga.

Bragga feels very pleased with his decision, citing all of the hours of work he’s put in to get to this point in his career.

“It feels great, it’s something I’ve worked hard for,” Bragga said. “I’m excited to see how far I can get in college and possibly beyond college, because I love baseball…there were some other Jucos and other (Division 1 schools) I had offers from, but I chose Tech because I know the culture really well. Those guys love to hit and I do as well, so that’s why I chose Tech.”

Playing for his father at the next level is something Bragga is also excited for, though he’s quick to point out that it won’t mean that he’ll have it easier at all.

“I think in order for me to make an impact, I’ll have to be better than other guys at my position,” Bragga said. “It poses a challenge, there’s doubters out there, but that is what it is.”

Signing now means Bragga can now focus on his senior season for the Cavaliers, a year he’s looking forward to.

“I think we’re going to have a really good club this year,” Bragga said. “We’re going to have to pitch and defend. Coach Chaffin and Coach Bayless do a great job, so I think we’re going to have a really good season.”
