Monday’s Frank’s Shootout finale saw the White County Warriorettes pick up a 74-70 victory over Red Boiling Springs behind 35 points and 17 rebounds from Nia Powers.

21 of Powers’ 37 points came in the first half against the Lady Bulldogs.

White County improved to 11-1 overall on Monday as they defeated Bradford earlier in the day before their nighttime victory over Red Boiling Springs (6-2).

RBS was led in scoring by guard Claire Flemming, who posted 34 points for the Lady Bulldogs.

White County held a 21-15 advantage after one quarter and grew their advantage in the second period to 13 points (47-34) by halftime.

White County seemed poised to run away with a double-digit victory as they led 65-53 after three periods, but Red Boiling Springs wasn’t done yet as the Bulldogs put together an impressive fourth-quarter performance.

RBS trimmed the Warriorette lead to one point (67-66) with 5:07 remaining as Flemming converted an and-one and a three-pointer on back-to-back possessions.

The Lady Bulldogs finally caught up to White County as a Bailey Massengill free throw with 3:12 remaining tied the game at 67.

Powers answered on the ensuing possession, hitting a layup to put the Warriorettes up 69-67 with 2:54 to go.

After forcing a stop, White County’s Karley Gentry nailed her only field goal of the night, a three-pointer with 1:29 left to give the Warriorettes a 72-67 lead.

A Flemming trey late in the game kept things interesting, but it was ultimately White County who picked up the 74-70 victory.

Up next, both teams will be in action on Tuesday in Sparta. At 4 p.m., RBS will face the winner of East Nashville and Bradford while White County will face Baylor at 8:30 p.m.
