The York Institute Dragonettes took down South Gibson on Tuesday night in their second-round matchup of the Frank’s Christmas Shootout 62-47.
An excellent defensive first quarter laid the groundwork for York’s victory, as they took an 18-5 lead into the second quarter. There, the Dragonettes extended the lead with an 18-16 advantage, adding up to a 36-21 lead at the halftime break.
South Gibson battled back in the third quarter and cut the lead down to just 11 at one point, but York responded with a run at the end of the quarter to push the lead back to 46-31 entering the fourth.
The Dragonettes then cruised to the finish line, as they held on for a 62-37 victory to advance to the Frank’s Shootout Championship where they’ll take on the winner of White County-Baylor.
