Arms, Fleming MVP Awards Headline District 7A Honors

Clay County’s Keaton Arms and Red Boiling Springs’ Claire Fleming were each named District 7A MVPs for their performances during the regular season.

Arms led a slew of CCHS recipients for both the boys and girls awards, as Bryce Bailey, Briley Burchett, Abby Head and Halle Buford were all named to their respective All-District First Teams. Alec Kerr, Jimmy Burchett and Bella Ashlock each made the Second Team, while John Hamilton, Nate Adams and Isabella Hale were each named to the Third Team.

Ashlock and Burchett were each also named Defensive MVPs, while Hamilton and Head were both on the All-Defensive Team. Rob Edwards and Matt Walker were each also named Coach of the Year. Honorable Mentions included Lance Burchett, Wyatt Browning, Madison Hayes, Laci Wix, Ella Eads and Baylor Walden. Rounding out the Bulldogs’ awards was Nolan Adams, as he was named to the All-Freshman Team.

Pickett County was also well-represented in the awards, as Jacob Amonett and Emmy Lowe each made the First Team. Eli Reagan, Callie Reeder and Zoey Nicholas were all named to the Second Team, and Nicholas was also named the Freshman MVP. Ella Kate Keisling was named to the All-District Third Team, and Allie Amonett, Kaylee Thompkins were each named Honorable Mentions on the girls side.

Addie Lowe joined Nicholas on the All-Freshman Team, and Reeder and Keisling were each named to the All-Defensive Teams. Will Spears was named to the boys All-Freshman Team as well. Honorable Mentions for the boys included Dylan Anderson, Gage Harris, Caden Miller and Kaiden Thomas.

Clarkrange’s representatives included Mattie Bush on the First Team, Addy Stowers and Kady Hopkins on the Second Team and Kacey Sells on the Third Team. Chloe Rogers, Ashton Napier and Payton Manis were honorable mentions, and Bush made the All-Defensive Team. Sophia Sitton was also named to the All-Freshman Team.

On the boys side, Bryton Swallows was named the Freshman MVP, and was joined on the All-Freshman Team by Jack Cordell and Collier Bush. Cordell, Bush, Swallows, Kris Beaty, Case Cordell and Lane Byrd were all named Honorable Mentions.

RBS’ Fleming led their representatives, and Colton Copass was also named to the boys First Team. Chris Hackney and Aubrey Link were each named to the boys Second Team, while Bre Thompson and Chloe Powell each made the girls Third Team. Honorable Mentions featured Bailey Massengille, Josie Green, Kennedy Marshall and Riley Thompson, while Fleming, Copass and Thompson all made the All-Defensive Team.

Gordonsville rounded out the awards with a pair of members on the First Team in Brodie Sykes and Brayden Holliman. Ryder Grisham, Will Dudney and Peyton Climer each made the Third Team as well, and Honorable Mentions included Olivia Brown, Kamara Young, Libby Clark, Tucker Smith, Tristan Wood and Eli Adams.

J. Foster, Molly Storie, Kaka Roberts and Makenize Herron all made the All-Freshman Team, while Dudney and Climer each made the All-Defensive Team.

The District Tournament kicks off on Tuesday with the play-in games, featuring Gordonsville and Red Boiling Springs in the girls game at 6 P.M. and Clarkrange and Red Boiling Springs in the boys game to follow. All games will be played at Jackson County High School.
