Beaty, Brown Named MVPs Of District 5AA

District 5AA regular season awards have been announced, and York’s Reese Beaty and Jackson County’s Kendrick Brown have been named the two MVPs of the district.

Joining Beaty in earning All-District recognition was York’s Gabby Beaty, Ellie Leffew, Emy Crabtree and Raylee Werner, Monterey’s Lindsey Wright, Abbie Sasser, Zoey Gore and Lydia Phillips and Sequatchie’s Curtlynn Lee and Jillian Givens.

York’s Josie Linder, Emma Cooper and Emily Doss were named Honorable Mentions, while Werner, Cooper, Cali Franklin and Emma Pile made the All-Freshmen Team.

As for the boys, Jackson County’s Hayden Stacy and Jordan Arroyo, Monterey’s Tre Monette, York’s Bryson Bilbrey, Myles Leffew, Heath Wattenbarger, Jackson Conatser and Blaine York, Bledsoe’s Eli Tabor and Sequatchie’s Baron Cribbs all earned All-District honors.

York’s Will Beaty, Jackson County’s Alex Meadows and Monterey’s Will McCreary and Aiden Robertson each made the All-Freshman Team.

Jackson County boys coach Kevin Thomas was named the Coach of the Year.

The District 5AA Tournament will begin on Tuesday with the play-in games, as the Jackson County Lady Devils will host Bledsoe County and Bledsoe will host Sequatchie on the boys side.

From there, the remainder of the district tournament will be held at Monterey. The full schedule can be found below.
