A close game early became a blowout in the third inning, as Cookeville pulled away from district foe Lebanon 11-1 on Tuesday night.
After a clean first inning for starter Madison Lancaster, the Lady Cavs got on the board via a two-run double off the bat of Laylah Turner to take an early lead.
Lancaster gave up her lone run of the night in the second inning, as a fielder’s choice with no out led to Lebanon’s first and only run.
The Lady Cavs answered with an eight-run third inning to blow the game wide-open, and they added one more run in the the fifth to secure the run-rule with an 11-1 final score.
It’s Cookeville’s first win in district play, and it moves their overall record to 8-8 on the season.
Next up on the schedule for the Lady Cavs is a game against Upperman on April 10 at home.
