The Livingston Academy Wildcats picked up their 8th straight victory Tuesday afternoon as they completed their season sweep of DeKalb County in Smithville, 13-3.
The Wildcats defeated DeKalb Monday in Livingston, 8-0, before Tuesday’s 10-run victory.
Livingston recorded 14 hits Tuesday led by Carson Parrott and Dylan York, who each went 3-5. Each had 2 RBIs while Parrott had a double, a run scored and a stolen base and York had 2 runs scored. Tayshawn Hayes hit a solo homer for the Wildcats also.
Along with his damage at the plate, Parrott went the distance on the mound as he recorded 10 strikeouts and gave up 3 runs in 7 innings pitched.
DeKalb County’s Carter Cook was responsible for all 3 Tiger runs as he hit 2 home runs against Livingston, totaling 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored in 3 at-bats.
The Wildcats opened Tuesday’s game with Hayes’ solo homer to left in the top of the first inning to take a 1-0 advantage.
DeKalb County responded in the bottom of the first with a homer of their own as Cook blasted a 2-run homer to left to score himself and courtesy runner Andrew Dakas, giving the Tigers a 2-1 lead.
After a scoreless second, Livingston retook the lead in the top of the third as a Parrott single to left scored Aaron Moffitt followed by a York single to score Hayes, putting LA back in the lead at 3-2.
Livingston’s lead grew to 5-2 in the top of the fifth as a Ryan Paul Campbell double to center drove in York followed by a Quinton Qualls grounder to score Campbell.
Cook’s second homer of the night came in the bottom of the sixth as he hit a solo shot to center to cut Livingston’s lead to 3 runs, 6-3.
The Wildcats ignited offensively in the top of the seventh as Livingston scored 7 runs in the frame to take a 13-3 advantage.
A DeKalb error allowed Kameron Norris to score before a Zach Cotterman triple to right scored Qualls, making the score 8-3. With 2 outs, Livingston scored 5 more runs as Cotterman scored on a passed ball before back-to-back hits from York and Andrew Gooslby drove in 3 runs. Norris wrapped up the scoring frenzy as a grounder scored Goolsby to make the score 13-3 entering the bottom of the seventh.
Parrott made quick work of DeKalb County in the final half-inning as he sat the Tigers down in order with a flout and two strikeouts to preserve the 13-3 win.
Livingston Academy is scheduled to play at Clay County on Friday, while DeKalb County is set to host Smith County on Thursday.
