York Institute and White County met on the soccer pitch Saturday afternoon in the Tammy “Pistole” Wilhite Cup in non-district action as the two teams finished at a 1-1 tie.
York Institute got on the board first as Aaron Anthony broke through the Warrior defense for a goal from straight on to give the Dragons a 1-0 lead with 17:35 left in the first half.
York would hold their 1-0 advantage through halftime and well into the second half.
White County tied the game with 12:15 left as Santiago Rojas nailed a penalty kick to tie the game at 1-1.
White County had a look from inside the keeper’s box with less than 5 seconds remaining, but York keeper Evan Kostrzewa denied the Warriors with a diving block as time expired to preserve the 1-1 tie.
