The most decorated season in DeKalb County boys soccer history came to a close Sunday evening as the Tigers were defeated in the Class 2A sectional round by East Hamilton, 3-1.
DeKalb County finishes the season one win away from the state tournament at 11-6-1 overall, District 6/AA runners-up and Region 3/AA champions.
After a scoreless first half, East Hamilton struck early in the second half as the Hurricanes scored via penalty kick to take a 1-0 lead with 34:01 remaining.
East Hamilton scored two more times at the 14:52 mark and again with 9:54 left to take a 3-0 lead.
DeKalb County got on the board with 9:32 remaining as Miguel Mada scored via penalty kick to make the final score 3-1 in favor of East Hamilton.
The Tigers racked up multiple postseason awards in 2023 led by District 6/AA MVP Yair Mada. Miguel Mada was named district offensive MVP while Cameron Miller, Ryder Miller, Cooper Brown and Axel Aranda were named first-team all-district.
Ada Ramirez and keeper Connor Vance were named second-team all-district for the Tigers under head coach Dylan Kleparek.
