LA’s Zach Cotterman Signs To Play Baseball At Northwest Ohio University

Livingston Academy senior Zach Cotterman made his commitment to Northwest Ohio University official on Wednesday, as he signed his NLI to play baseball for the Racers after graduation.

For Cotterman, it’s a day he’s excited about and has been working towards for many years.

“I’m super excited, I can’t wait to go up there and play college baseball,” Cotterman said. “The coaches were very nice, and the campus looked brand-new and it’s got the courses I want to take. I can’t wait to go.”

His current head coach Jamie Loftis says there’s a lot for UNOH to be excited for when it comes to Cotterman, and it all starts with his work ethic.

“He’s the first one in the cages every day, and he’s typically the last one there,” Loftis said. “I just wish we’d had him for more than two years…he puts in a lot of work on his own away from practice, so he’s earned this opportunity.”

Loftis goes on to add that he thinks it’s a good fit for Cotterman, both on the field and in the classroom.

“They’ve got what he wants to study, and that was important to him,” Loftis said. “As far as the program they run, they do things the right way and he should be able to find a role for himself quickly.”

Cotterman says he’s going to miss playing baseball with his teammates in Livingston, but adds that he’s ready for the new challenges ahead.

“I’m definitely going to miss my friends and playing ball with them when I leave and go up there,” Cotterman said. “Eventually I’ll make good relationships with them up there, it’s just an exciting, new atmosphere….I think I’m ready.”
