The Upperman Bees improved to 8-0 overall in District 7-3A play Tuesday afternoon as they completed the sweep of Cumberland County via a 10-0 victory in Baxter.
Upperman pitcher Caden Shanks added a no-hitter to his senior season resume as he struck out 9 of the 17 Jet batters he faced, surrendering no hits and 1 walk in the five-inning victory.
Evan Huddleston led the Bees at the plate as he went 2-4 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored from the leadoff spot. Justin Fallon also recorded 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored while going 2-2 with a double.
Upperman opened the contest with four runs in the bottom of the first inning as a sacrifice fly from Fallon and Julian Llano along with singles from Alec Wilson and Carson Shupe each scored a run.
The Bees tacked on a run in the bottom of the second and two more in the bottom of the fourth to take a 7-0 lead entering the fifth, where three runs in the bottom-half gave Upperman a 10-0 victory via mercy rule.
Upperman is scheduled to play at Watertown on Thursday while Cumberland County is set to host Warren County.
