UC TOP 5 Week 2: Gordonsville Enters Top 5 Following Win At Smith County

The second edition of the UC Top 5 football rankings were unveiled on the UCR Coaches Show Tuesday evening as we enter week 2 of the football season.

1. Upperman

The Upperman Bees retain their top spot after a 48-6 victory at Fayetteville in week one. The Bees were firing on all cylinders week one despite replacing multiple starters in the trenches. Upperman stays on the road in week two as they’ll be tested at Class 6A Lebanon in the UCR Game of the Week.

2. Cookeville

Cookeville hit the road and took down Stone Memorial 35-12 in week 1 to avenge a loss in the 2023 season opener. The high-powered Cavaliers return home this week to host PURE Academy.

3. Macon County

Macon County had the spotlight to themselves Saturday night as they defeated rival Westmoreland 31-7. The Tigers overcame a few early penalties and turnovers to pull away to a 3-score victory. Macon County hits the road to Trousdale County this week, who lost to Livingston Academy in week 1.

4. White County

White County opened the season with a 42-17 home victory over Silverdale Academy on Friday behind the arm of quarterback Tripp Pinion. The Warriors host Warren County in Week 2 with a great chance to improve to 2-0.

5. Gordonsville

Class 1A’s Gordonsville enters the UC Top 5 this week following a 20-6 victory at rival Smith County on Friday. The Tigers won without starting QB J Foster, who is expected to return soon. Gordonsville hits the road again this week as they play at Watertown in non-region action.
