Week 8 2024 Picks
Noah 64-9 (8-1)
Justin 63-10 (9-0)
Goose 61-11 (8-1)
Jacob 60-12 (9-0)
GOTW: York Institute (4-2) at Stone Memorial (5-2)
Noah: Stone Memorial 27-0
Two teams that are playing their best ball as we enter the ending portion of the season. A Stone win likely comes on the back of a balanced offensive performance and forcing turnovers on defense. A York win will require the Dragons to limit explosive plays while getting a few of their own. Ultimately, I think the Panthers get it done with nice games by Noah Potter and Maddox Oquendo, but it could go either way.
Justin: Stone Memorial 27-21
I have locked against the Panthers for a month here and Coach Samber and the boys have enjoyed making me look dumb. Not this week. I’ll roll with the 4A home team that’s playing really good team football right now.
Jacob: Stone Memorial 22-21
I think this has a chance to be one of our best games of the season. Both of these teams are playing their best football to this point in the season. Stone has mixed it up offensively in the last three weeks and will be a great test for the solid York defense. The Dragons struggled against good passing offenses in weeks one and two, so we’ll see if coach Samber tries to open the passing game a little more in this one.
Goose: 18-8
I’ve been so back and forth on this game all week as both teams enter red-hot with a lot of momentum. Two solid rushing attacks collide in Crossville, and I’ll take the homestanding Panthers in a physical football game.
Livingston Academy (3-4) at Macon County (5-2)
Noah: Macon County 42-0
The Tigers know they can’t afford a letdown and I don’t expect them to have one against an injury-hampered LA squad.
Justin: Macon County 31-7
Macon County looked not making the playoffs dead in the eye last week and stole a victory from the jaws of defeat. The Tigers have LA outmatched athletically in this one.
Jacob: Macon County 42-0
Tigers get back on a win streak with another dominant win at home.
Goose: Macon County 41-12
Macon County has to avoid a letdown after an emotional win last week, but coach Shoulders’ squad should be up to the task. I’m calling another special teams touchdown for the Tigers tonight.
White County (5-2) at CAK (2-5)
Noah: White County 21-7
I can’t imagine Tripp Pinion plays in this game which will keep it closer, but the Warriors should be able to run the ball effectively with Cole Simms and company. Defensively I expect another stout performance out of Sparta.
Justin: White County 21-10
Tripp may not play this week, but White County’s defense should be able to take care of business against CAK.
Jacob: White County 14-10
This score is solely dependent on if Tripp Pinion plays or not. Since it is a non-region game and the Warriors have a bye next week, I am going to assume he does not play in this one. With that being said the Warriors offense could struggle and you’ll probably see quite a few new things out of them and how they run it. The defense is going to have to play well and I think they still get the job done on the road.
Goose: White County 27-7
White County hits the road to Knoxville this week and may not have their star quarterback in the lineup. There’s still plenty of talent on this roster even without Tripp, and with a week to prepare they should handle business.
Jackson County (5-2) at Smith County (1-6)
Noah: Smith County 27-14
Justin: Jackson County 21-20
Jacob: Smith County 21-14
Goose: Jackson County 14-6
DeKalb County (5-2) at Cumberland County (2-5)
Noah: DeKalb County 35-7
Justin: DeKalb County 31-6
Jacob: DeKalb County 35-7
Goose: DeKalb County 28-17
Red Boiling Springs (2-4) at Gordonsville (5-2)
Noah: Gordonsville 42-7
Justin: Gordonsville 38-10
Jacob: Gordonsville 28-7
Goose: Gordonsville 34-7
Sale Creek at Pickett County
Noah: Sale Creek 35-0
Justin: Sale Creek 28-7
Jacob: Sale Creek 21-7
Goose: Sale Creek 26-6
