Playoffs Second Round
Noah 103-12 (10-0)
Justin 99-16 (10-0)
Goose 99-16 (10-0)
Jacob 97-18 (10-0)
GOTW: Macon County at Upperman
Noah: Upperman 35-28
Two of the state’s best are set for another war in Baxter. For me this game comes down to Upperman forcing Macon into long drives and the Tigers limiting the Bees’ power run game. Ultimately, I’ll take the battle-tested Bees in another classic.
Justin: Upperman 31-24
Round two should be as great at the last three matchups, but I’ll take the Bees at home. They’re the kings until proven otherwise.
Jacob: Upperman 21-17
I have no reason to believe this won’t be another great game between these two teams. The last three times they’ve gotten together it’s been decided by 7, 3 and 1. Both defenses are going to be tested and it may come down to who can get off the field more.
Goose: Upperman 28-27
The margin’s been closer the last three times they’ve played, and this game should be no different. Baxter during the playoffs is a different animal and Macon County should be more than ready for the game, but Upperman’s had the edge. I’ve never witnessed a Bees home loss and it’ll take a valiant effort to change that tonight.
UCR2: White County at Loudon
Noah: White County 42-0
The Warriors won’t let me down. S-P-A-R-T-A
Justin: White County 28-24
White County has a massive test tonight on the road in Loudon and this one will come down to the wire. I’ll take White County’s deep roster to step up tonight and take home the dub.
Jacob: White County 28-14
Loudon has had an incredible season going 11-0, but they haven’t played a team with size and speed of White County. The Warrior’s defense has been crucial to their win streak when they’ve dealt with numerous people being hurt. They’ll need to be good again in this one if they want to win their first ever round two playoff game.
Goose: White County 21-7
Football is won and lost in the trenches, and I think White County has an advantage up front on both sides. Even a limited Tripp Pinion at quarterback can still make good throws and facilitate the ball to Sparta’s stable of weapons. Protecting the football is massive tonight down in Loudon, and I think the Warriors get it done against a really solid and undefeated Redskins team.
UCR3: Polk County at York Institute
Noah: York 28-7
Polk County is better than their record indicates, but the Dragons are the better team. They had their let-down two weeks ago and will take care of business here.
Justin: York 24-10
I don’t care how the last game went, York should handle business tonight. Derwin and the Dragons are a different animal in the postseason.
Jacob: York Institute 35-7
The Dragons were the better football team two weeks ago and they’re still the better football team. This time they don’t have to go on the road and get to stay on routine. I expect the Dragons to play a much cleaner game this week than two weeks ago.
Goose: York 41-7
York welcomes Polk County to Jamestown tonight for their second meeting in three weeks, and I’ve seen this script before. Sure, the regular-season meeting at Polk was close, but I think it took a perfect storm for that game to be competitive. Give me the Dragons BIG tonight.
Whitwell at Clay County
Noah: Clay County 28-27
Justin: Clay County 35-27
Jacob: Clay County 28-21
Goose: Clay County 49-35
