Stone Memorial High School senior Adison Howard made her college basketball plans official on Thursday as the Lady Panther point guard signed with Sewanee: The University of the South.

“I’m excited for four more years,” said Howard. “I’ve got one more here at Stone though, and I’m ready for it.”

Sewanee competes in the NCAA Division III’s Southern Athletic Conference and is located in Sewanee, TN.

“I had it down to a few schools, and I went on an official visit to Sewanee,” said Howard. “It felt like home there and I love the coaches. They came to all of my AAU games and made me feel like I was wanted there.”

Howard still has the entirety of her senior basketball season ahead following Thursday’s signing.

“It’s always special when good people get to live out their dream,” said Stone Memorial head coach Mike Buck. “She definitely deserves it; she’s special. She’s on pace to become our all-time assists leader, and you don’t get that without having a certain personality and skillset.”

“It definitely gives me some more confidence going into my senior year,” said Howard. “I definitely want to thank God and my mom and dad. They’ve put endless hours into this with me. I want to thank all of my trainers, coach Buck, coach Matt Troino and anybody else that’s been there for me.”
