A trio of Gordonsville High School softball players are taking their talents to the next level as Kailey Plumlee, Bailey Stewart and Abby Brinkley signed their letters of intent during a joint ceremony Friday afternoon.
Plumlee, a pitcher and the #22-ranked softball player nationally according to On3, signed with the University of Tennessee while Stewart (catcher) signed with Vol State and Brinkley (outfield) with Henderson State University.
“It’s very exciting for not only our softball program, but all of our athletic programs here at our school,” said Gordonsville head coach Jonathan Bush. “These three girls’ dreams are being met to go to college to further their career and their education. I’m so proud of all of them. They have practiced hard with us and worked hard outside with individual coaches and lessons.”
Friday’s signing ceremony took place in front of the Gordonsville High School student body.
“That’s the special thing about Gordonsville,” said Bush. “We have huge community support and they love to see our girls succeed.”
Gordonsville softball has won back-to-back Class 1A state championships and is looking for their third straight in the spring of 2025.
“Now these girls can focus on this year,” said Bush. “They know they’re going to college and can sit back and have a good senior year.”
