The DeKalb County Tigers improved to 2-2 in District 7-3A play Tuesday evening as they won at Livingston Academy, 17-7.
A hot start fueled DeKalb County as they scored 5 runs in the top of the first inning and 8 in the second to lead 13-1 after two.
The Tigers tallied 11 hits on the day led by Ty Webb and Evan Prichard, who recorded 3 hits each. Prichard went 3-5 with 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored while Webb went 3-4 with 4 runs scored and a double. Dallas Kirby went 2-4 with 2 doubles, 2 RBIs and a run scored.
Sawyer McBride led Livingston at the plate as he went 1-3 with 2 RBIs and a run scored.
DeKalb County’s first five batters reached safely in the top of the first inning as a Prichard single to right scored Webb and Kirby. Ty Webb scored one batter later via a wild pitch to give the Tigers a 3-0 lead with no outs and two runners on.
A Preston Taylor grounder and Wildcat error drove in Prichard and Johnson to give DeKalb County a 5-0 lead after one.
The Tigers tacked on 8 runs in the second inning as singles from Prichard and Johnson drove in a run each along with a double by Kirby to score two. Taylor drew a bases-loaded walk to score Prichard along with Johnson, Kirksey a Cooper Odom scoring via errors.
Livingston scored a run in the bottom of the second inning and five in the bottom of the fourth to cut their deficit to 13-6, but DeKalb County answered with a run in the top of the fifth and three in the top of the seventh to win by a 17-7 final score.
Up next for the Tigers is a home game on Thursday against Watertown while Livingston is scheduled to host Gordonsville at 5 p.m.
