Titus Bisbee Tosses Complete-Game Shutout To Lead Stone Memorial In 6-0 Victory At Cumberland County

By Michael Lindsay

The Stone Memorial Panthers earned their first District 7-3A baseball victory of the season Monday as a complete-game shutout from Titus Bisbee led his team to a 6-0 win.

Bisbee surrendered only 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 2 in 7 complete innings.

“We played great today,” said Stone Memorial head coach Trent Stokes. “Titus did an amazing job on the mound; he found a way to pound the zone and get the job done. Only two strikeouts, so 19 outs came from the field. Our defense played great. Titus is our dude and we know what we’re going to get from him every time.”

The Panthers tallied 12 hits and were led at the plate by 2 hits each from Kyle Hinch, Talyn Hurd, Drake Scarbrough and Shaeffer Sitton.

“We were pesky and got all of our bunts down,” said Stokes. “We were aggressive on the base paths; I’m proud of our guys.”

Stone Memorial got on the board first in the top of the third inning as a Hinch grounder scored Kamryn Melton followed by a Jet balk to score Bisbee, giving the Panthers a 2-0 lead.

Sitton tacked on a run in the top of the fourth on a single by Griffin Templeton before Stone Memorial scored three runs in the top of the seventh to take a 6-0 lead.

The Panthers improve to 3-8 overall and 1-2 in district play. Stone Memorial is set to host Cumberland County at 5:3o on Tuesday.

“We’ve got to hit the repeat button,” said Stokes. “We want to throw strikes, play great defense and be pesky at the plate.”
