The Cookeville Lady Cavalier softball team wrapped up their 2025 campaign a game shy of the region tournament Friday afternoon at Stewarts Creek High School as they fell to Wilson Central in the District 7-4A tournament, 7-1.
Cookeville opened tournament play last Thursday (May 1) with an 8-7 win over Lebanon before falling to Stewarts Creek on Monday, 14-0. The Lady Cavs bounced back to defeat LaVergne 19-1 and Smyrna 4-2 to advance to their elimination game with Wilson Central originally set for Thursday. The teams played the top-half of the first and one batter into the second inning on Sunday before inclement weather forced a delay until Friday afternoon.
After resuming where they left off from Thursday, the Lady Cavaliers struck first on Monday with a Gabbi Romero sacrifice fly to left, scoring Kali Webb and giving Cookeville a 1-0 lead.
Wilson Central posted a pair of three-run innings in the fourth and fifth before tacking on a run in the sixth to win by a 7-1 final score.
Kali Webb, Kadie Presley and Ella Dudney were named all-district tournament. Cookeville finishes the season at 13-23 overall.
