The Gordonsville Tigerettes closed out their season in Murfreesboro for the fourth consecutive year Thursday afternoon as they were defeated in the Class 1A state tournament semifinals by Hollow-Rock Bruceton, 12-5 and 10-5.
Gordonsville defeated Hollow Rock in the winners’ bracket on Wednesday before the Lady Tigers battled back to win two against Gordonsville on Thursday and earn a state championship game berth.
Thursday’s games were the final game in Gordonsville blue for seniors Abby Brinkley, Kailey Plumlee and Bailey Stewart, who finish their careers with two state championships and four state tournament appearances. All three have signed to continue their softball careers in college with Plumlee going to the University of Tennessee, Stewart going to Vol State and Brinkley going to Henderson State.
Plumlee is the reigning Gatorade Player of the Year for Tennessee and finishes her career with 1,608 strikeouts while hitting 56 homers.
Gordonsville finishes the season at 36-3 overall.
