Cookeville High School Cross Country Teams Win Ryan Burnett Invitational
The CHS girls and boys team take first place at the Ryan Burnett Invitational. Competing in the events were 10 boys teams with a total of 106 runners, and 7 girls teams totaling 71 runners. Local teams competing included CHS, Livingston Academy, Upperman, White County, and Stone Memorial.
The CHS boys top runners were Conner Hawkins (1st, 16:20.57), Caleb Aikens (3rd, 17:05.58), Ben Pardue (11th, 17:59.22), Alex Cruz (12th, 18:00.45), and Jonathan Dean (19th, 18:21.69). Stone Memorial’s top runners included Michael VanWinkle (4th, 17:16.97), Xavier Findley (6th, 17:27.97), Payt Bussey (9th, 17:46.97), Jackson Hughes, (14th, 18:05.85), and Preston Buck (16th, 18:08.94). The top runners for Livingston Academy were Dalton Clark (67th, 21:42.00), Wesley Cannon (61st,21:23.50), Kevin Linder (69th, 21:51.38), Chase Hunter (77th, 22:35.13), and Jacob Savage (24:39.37).
For the CHS girls, Courtney McCowan was leader with a time of 20:48.73 in 1st place followed by Ifeoma Ikedionwu (6th, 22:58.48), Isabella Dawson (7th, 23:00.32), Libby Leftwich (8th, 23:14.23), and Chloe Livingston (9th, 23:19.14). Stone Memorial’s top runners were Susan Nelson (17th, 23:57.69), Rebekah Noland (20th, 24:22.95), Allie Hale (21st, 24:39.57), Anna Kemmer (27th, 25:10.86), and Ashley Hale (30th, 25:39.23). Livingston Academy was led by Jill VanDomelen (46th, 28:51.95), Lakita Barlow (47th, 28:52.54), Rebecca Sanders (55th, 30:10.61), Rhea Lynne Conner (56th, 30:16.26), and Rylee Smith (64th, 31:33.64). Upperman was led by Tanya Retallack (69th, 37:09.20) and Melissa Vaughn (70th, 38:36.04).
The Cookeville Middle School girls and boys teams placed 2nd at the Burnett. The leaders for the girls middle school race were Landri Wilcox (1st, 12:30.34, CKV) followed by Evan Welch (4th, 14:00.67, White County), Annie Kate McDermott (7th, 14:37.30, CKV), Emily Coonce (8th, 14:42.22, CKV). The boys middle school local leaders were Jacob Sparks (16th, 13:22.32, CKV), Keith Wiley (17th, 13:24.40, CKV) Drew Thacker (19th, 13:34.80, CKV), Ethan Delk (21st, 13:35.59, CKV), and Drake Thacker (22nd, 13:39.09, CKV).
