Cumberland County Middle Schoolers Charged In School Shooting Plot

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, TN — Two sixth grade students are facing serious charges after officials say they found a “hit list” and a detailed plan to shoot up a school.

According to reports, two students from South Cumberland Elementary School were arrested for planning to bring weapons to school and shoot other students and faculty.

Reports say a supposed “hit list” was brought to the attention of a school resource officer that had a list of names of students to be shot in a planned school shooting. Authorities were alerted and after investigating, officials say they found two sixth graders who had, allegedly, plotted a detailed plan to start a school shooting.

According to reports, the sixth graders were planning to arrive on the last day of school, retrieve weapons they would have hidden in the lockers, re-enter through the back door and begin shooting both students and faculty. The students also allegedly planned to commit suicide before police could interfere.

Reports claim that while the “hit list” was not found by authorities, a hand-drawn map of the school was.

As of Friday, April 26th, both students were arrested and taken to the Cumberland County Juvenile Detention Facility. They have been charged with Conspiracy to Commit Murder.
