The Cookeville Lady Cavs defeated Coffee County Central in volleyball action on Monday night 3-0 (25-18, 27-25, 25-21).

The Lady Cavs experimented tonight with different players other than normal starters they have. Lady Cavs head coach Lucas Martin was pleased with what he saw tonight from players who stepped up.

“We had three starters not playing tonight,” said Martin. “I think it helps us all, it gave my bench players a chance to get in, it gave my starters who are not 100% to rest, and it lets me know who I can put in when and what they can do.”

Both teams battled back and forth and traded the lead multiple times throughout all three sets, but the Lady Cavs powered through to win.

Even though this was a non-district game, Martin said the Lady Cavs’ effort and attitude show they are ready for any type of match.

“It’s a game and win or lose we still want to have fun whether it is district or not,” said Martin. “If you’re not having fun then why play?”

The Lady Cavs are set to take on district foe Siegel at 6 p.m. on Wednesday night.
