Gordonsville Improves To 6-0 Following 48-7 Win At Jackson County

By Michael Lindsay

The Gordonsville Tigers (6-0, 2-0) continued their undefeated start to the 2025 season Friday evening as they won at Jackson County (3-3, 0-2), 48-7.

Tiger quarterback J Foster threw 3 touchdown passes in the victory including two to sophomore receiver Camrix Stott. Six different Tigers found the end zone in Friday’s win.

“We try to get a lot of people involved,” said Gordonsville head coach Stephen Jackson. “That way you can’t key in on and try to stop one person. Tonight was a prime example of having a lot of people that can carry and catch the football.”

Gordonsville scored on their opening drive as a 37-yard rush to the Jackson County 3-yard line by Turner Bucher set up a Lee Scurlock touchdown run to give the Tigers a 7-0 lead. After forcing a punt on the ensuing drive, Foster connected with Stott for an 81-yard touchdown pass to extend Gordonsville’s lead to 14-0 late in the first period.

“We ran the ball effectively like we have all year,” said Foster. “That was good to open up the deep balls downfield.”

Foster connected with Stott again to open the second quarter, this time on a WR screen that Stott took 74 yards to the end zone to give the Tigers a 21-0 lead with 10:56 remaining in the second quarter.

Jackson County got on the board midway through the quarter as Skyler Stacy broke loose on a 53-yard touchdown rush to cut Gordonsville’s lead to 21-7 with 8:58 remaining in the second period.

The Tigers responded with a 4-yard JT Summers touchdown run on their next drive to take a 28-7 lead with 3:45 left in the first half.

Summers stepped up on the ensuing drive defensively as he intercepted a Jackson County pass to set up a Foster 3-yard touchdown pass to Brooks Stafford to close out the first half with Gordonsville leading 34-7.

“They’re a really good offense, so for our defense to play how they did, I thought they did a great job,” said Jackson.

Gordonsville closed out the game in the second half as Bucher punched in a touchdown in the third quarter followed by a Cason Stinnett touchdown in the fourth quarter to seal the 48-7 victory.

The Tigers improve to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in Region 2-4A play and travel to Westmoreland (3-3, 0-1) for non-region action while Jackson County travels to Trousdale County (1-5, 0-1) in region action.
