The Upperman Bees (24-5, 8-0) and Lady Bees (22-7, 4-4) closed out their respective regular seasons in style on Monday as they swept a pair of home games against Cannon County. The girls opened the evening with a 77-37 victory followed by a 79-70 win by the boys.
Upperman junior point guard Ty Cobb etched his name atop the Bees’ all-time scoring list in the game as he scored his 2,427th career point to pass former #1 Tim Haggard. Cobb’s record-breaking point came via a free throw early in the fourth quarter.
Cobb poured in 40 points, 8 assists and 5 rebounds to lead the Bees along with 13 points and 5 boards from Joseph Maynard. Colton Johnson posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds in the win.
Taylor Dolente led the Lady Bees with 33 points on 8 three-pointers along with 26 points and 5 boards for Gracie Butler.
Up next for both teams is the District 7-3A tournament later this week at Cookeville High School. The #1-seeded Bees will face the winner of #4 White County and #5 Livingston in the semifinals while the #3 Lady Bees will face #2 White County. Dates and times TBA.
