Week two of the Tennessee high school football season is in the books with multiple Upper Cumberland athletes having breakout performances:
Cole Sims, White County RB
Sims racked up 324 yards and 3 touchdowns on 13 carries in White County’s 53-21 win over York Institute.
Dylan Raines, Smith County RB
Raines had four rushing touchdowns, including the game winner in triple overtime, in Smith County’s 38-32 win at Clay County.
Braiden Dodson, Jackson County RB
Dodson rushed for 200 yards and 2 touchdowns on 29 carries in Jackson County’s 26-14 win at Midway. Dodson also had 7 tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery.
Adrian Prater, DeKalb County K
Prater hit a game-winning 50-yard field goal in DeKalb County’s 23-21 win at White House.
TJ McDowell, Stone Memorial RB
McDowell racked up 181 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns on 20 carries in Stone Memorial’s 41-34 loss to Coalfield.
Max Warner, Stone Memorial QB
Warner went 11-19 for 122 yards and a touchdown through the air and rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown in Stone Memorial’s 41-34 loss to Coalfield.
Franky Guerrero, Livingston TE
Gurrero rushed for 66 yards and 3 touchdowns, including the game-winner with 2 seconds left, in Livingston’s 27-21 win at Warren County.
Xavier Bentley, Macon County RB
Bentley had 11 carries for 97 yards and a touchdown in Macon County’s 37-0 win over Westmoreland.
Brennan Flowers, Macon County HB
Flowers had 11 carries for 92 yards and a touchdown in Macon County’s 37-0 win over Westmoreland.
Christian Hulsey, Cookeville DB/WR
Hulsey had an interception and a 58 yard touchdown reception in Cookeville’s 28-7 loss to FRA.
Fletcher Strong, Clay County QB
Strong threw 3 touchdown passes in Clay County’s 38-32 loss to Smith County.
Kaleb Birdwell, Jackson County LB
Birdwell had 5 tackles, 2 forced fumbles and 2 TFLs in Jackson County’s 26-14 win at Midway.
