Take a ‘History Hike’ between Cookeville Museums

COOKEVILLE – Take a hike – a history hike, that is.

Cookeville Leisure Services’ History Hikes start April 8 and will continue the second Saturday of each month through October. This month’s hike will go along with the theme of the Cookeville History Museum’s current exhibit, “Cookeville: Back to the ’80s.”

“Participants will walk between the history museum and the depot and find clues as to what businesses were in the West Side buildings in the 1980s,” Beth Thompson, Cookeville museums manager, said.

History Hikes are free, fun and family-friendly. To get started, participants may stop by either the Cookeville History Museum or Cookeville Depot Museum between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to enjoy some cookies and get an entry form with trivia questions to be answered during the hike between the two museums along Broad Street. Each museum will have a different entry form, and participants may participate in both hikes. Completed forms are due back by 3:30 p.m. and will be included in a prize drawing.

For more information, call the Cookeville History Museum at 931-520-5455 or the Cookeville Depot at 931-528-8570.
