T.B.I. Identifies Body Found In Smithville Yard

SMITHVILLE, TN – An investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation reveals that the body found in a Smithville yard was identified as a woman from Cannon County.

On Monday, November 12th, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department started an investigation on an unidentified woman found deceased in a yard in Smithville. The woman had no i.d. on her and the description given to the public was that she was 30-40 years of age, sandy blonde hair, 5’4″, and weighing 125 pounds. Other identifiable marks released to the public were that the unidentifiable female had a pierced belly button, a tattoo of a cross on the back of her neck, and what appeared to be a “M”, “W” or “3” tattoed on her right hand.

The female was also wearing maroon scrubs and brown boots and an orange Home Depot jersey, brown jacket and blue shirt were also found at the scene, according to officials.

The female was identified through fingerprints to be Jessica Renee Stephens, 28, of Cannon County according to officials.

Stephens’ cause of death is still under investigation.
