COOKEVILLE, TN — An inmate from New York state pleads guilty to child rape charges.
According to reports, Kerry Washington, 27, of New York, signed a guilty plea and waived his right to a jury trial and appeal. Washington was arrested last year and was indicted for child rape by a grand jury.
According to reports, Washington was arrested following the investigation in April of 2016 when a sexual assault against a juvenile was brought before authorities. The incident was investigated by Cookeville Police Department, the FBI, the Department of Children’s Services and the New York City Police Department.
Washington was sentenced to 19 years in prison and will be placed on the sex offender registry permanently and will be under community supervision.
