“Hoot” at the “Hoop” January 4, 2020

Hoot, Hoot, Hoot! Was the sound you heard as Jake Hoot entered the Hoop at TTU on Saturday, January 4, 2020.

As you know, Jake was the winner of “The Voice” this season. He and three of his friends from “The Voice” came to Cookeville to show his appreciation for the fans in his hometown.

Callie Wilson, Max Boyle and Alex Guthrie from “The Voice” and Judah Akers, of Judah and the Lion, also a local hometown musician, all performed alongside Jake.

The coliseum was packed, the music was awesome and the concert brought in almost $20,000 to non-profit organizations.

Jake presented checks to the following: Nicaragua Bus Missions, Cookeville Rescue Mission and Habitat for Humanity.

Jake was presented the key to the city and a framed collection of photos from the City Mayor Ricky Shelton and County Mayor Randy Porter. January 4, 2020 is now known as Jake Hoot Day in Cookeville, Putnam County. Representative Ryan Williams, also on hand,  and Senator Paul Bailey gave Jake a certificate officially naming January 4, 2020, Jake Hoot Day in Tennessee.

Coaches, from TTU, presented Jake with a football helmet in honor of his dedication to the game. Jake played football at Tech for several years. TTU President Phil Oldham, and his wife, Kari, presented Jake with a certificate “Wings of Kindness.” Jake also received a road sign that was given to him by the mayor “Jake Hoot Drive” that will be placed in the Habitat for Humanity community.
